Enjoyment And Work Can Go Together
When you think of "Work" I am pretty sure the first words you think of are NOT-fun, exciting, easy, enjoyable or even pleasant. For some of you, those words are not even on your list or have ever been in a conversation that included your work. After reading today's blog, I hope your perspective will change.
I believe there is a kind of work that does not have to feel like an obligation, or a chore, or something you have to chug a whole pot of coffee to help get you through it. It is something you "Get" to do! This work is something that puts the spark in your eye, the excitement deep in your soul, and the enjoyment you can't find anywhere else. And yes, we can ALL have this type of work. I call this the "God-given" work.
1 Corinthians 9:1 - Am I not free? Am I not an apostle? Have I not seen Jesus our Lord? Are you not the results of my work in the Lord?
Paul knew without a doubt the work God had set aside specifically for him. He was looking into the eyes of people that were sitting around him and seeing them as the fruit of all his hard work. Paul is talking about the work that affects destiny, changes lives and eternity and the work that builds up the body of Christ. The work he could only do IN and THROUGH Jesus Christ.
You may be saying, "Yah, Paul was a preacher, an evangelist, a traveler. What wouldn't be amazing about that?" God has life changing work for you too. Your God-Given work can only be done "IN and THROUGH" Him and "BY you".
Maybe your God-Given Work...
Fits in your day to day job
Maybe it is your day to day job
Maybe it is outside of your day to day job.
I want to encourage you to dig deep to find the work God has "specifically" for you. Find that "Paul" kind of work. When you know your God-given work, there is no other joy and contentment that can compare to walking it out.
Deuteronomy 16:15b - For the Lord your God will bless you in all your harvest and in all the work of your hands, and your joy will be complete.Get Rid of that Stuck Feeling
The last few months God has been confirming His work for me. Seeing salvation and hope restored stirs something inside of me. When I am doing the work God has put in my heart it is a feeling I sometimes can not describe. God's desire is for us to have joy in what He has chosen for us to do.
Maybe you are in a job that you feel stuck in. I have been there and I know it is not fun. Start doing what compels you in or outside of your workplace and you will begin to see things change. The change may happen in you or it may happen in your workplace, but something will for sure begin to change. The daunting feeling of discontent you feel will be replaced with the amazing joy, excitement and contentment that God will give you as you do your God-given work. But you first need to know what that work is.
I want to hear from you!
What do you believe is your God-given work?
